What TV mounting costs in Louisville

Our standard mount is a flat $150. That is a TV up to 85 inches on a drywall wall, on the studs, level, with the cords run inside a paintable cover. Most mounts take about an hour. The $150 is our 2-hour minimum, so use the second hour: we will hang the soundbar, a shelf, a mirror or the pictures that have been leaning against the wall since you moved in.

Harder walls take longer. Above a fireplace, or into brick, stone or old plaster, runs $225 to $300 depending on the wall and whether the cords can be hidden. We quote that before we start, from a photo if you like.

For comparison, TV mounting companies in Louisville charge $249 and up for the same standard mount, and $300 to $400 for fireplaces.

How we hang it

A TV is only as safe as what it is screwed into. We find the studs, not just the drywall, and use lag bolts rated well past the weight of the TV. Then we set the height for where you actually sit, level the bracket, hang the TV and check it twice.

Older Louisville homes sometimes have plaster and lath, metal studs or odd stud spacing. We bring the anchors for those walls and tell you what we found.

  • Studs located and marked
  • Bracket lagged into the studs, not anchors in drywall
  • Height set for your couch, usually eye level seated
  • TV leveled and locked
  • Cords hidden, remotes and inputs tested before we leave

Hiding the cords

Most people want the cords gone. The standard way is a slim paintable cover that runs down to the outlet; it is included in the $150. The cleaner way is a low-voltage in-wall kit: the HDMI and power cords run inside the wall between two plates, so nothing shows. That adds about $40 to $60 in parts.

What we don't do is electrical. We are not licensed electricians, so we don't add outlets or move wiring. If you want a new outlet behind the TV, we will point you to an electrician we trust, then come mount the TV once it is in.

Renters and landlords

Renters: a mounted TV does not have to cost your deposit. The holes are in the studs, and when you move out we can take the mount down and patch and paint the wall for the same $150 minimum.

Landlords: we mount TVs and brackets in furnished units and can fold it into a turnover visit along with the rest of the list.

What this doesn't cover

  • New outlets, moved wiring or anything behind the drywall that carries power (licensed electrician)
  • Running cable or satellite lines into the house

Those need a licensed trade. We will tell you when a job is one of them and point you to someone good.

Questions

How much does it cost to mount a TV in Louisville?

The Tenant Turn charges a flat $150 for a standard mount on drywall, including finding the studs, leveling and hiding the cords in a cover. Fireplace, brick or plaster mounts run $225 to $300. Other Louisville services charge $249 and up for a standard mount.

Do I need to buy the mount, or do you bring one?

Either. Buy one that fits your TV size and we install it. Or tell us the TV size and whether you want it fixed, tilting or full-motion and we bring the right mount at cost plus 10%, receipt included.

Can you mount a TV above a fireplace or on brick, stone or plaster?

Yes. Those take longer and need masonry anchors or special hardware, so they run $225 to $300. We also talk through heat and viewing height before putting a TV over a fireplace.

Can you hide the wires?

Yes. A paintable cord cover is included. For a fully hidden look we install a low-voltage in-wall kit so the cords run behind the drywall between two plates, about $40 to $60 extra in parts. We don't add outlets or move electrical wiring; that needs a licensed electrician.

How long does TV mounting take?

About an hour for a standard drywall mount, three to four hours for fireplaces or masonry. You get a 2-hour visit with the $150, so the rest can go to a soundbar, shelves or pictures.

Can you mount a TV in an apartment or rental without wrecking the wall?

Yes. The bracket goes into the studs with a few bolt holes. When you move out, we can remove the mount and patch and paint the holes for our $150 minimum.

How high should a TV be mounted?

Center of the screen at eye level when you are seated, usually 42 to 48 inches off the floor for a couch. We set it for your room, not a chart.

Can you find studs in older Louisville homes with plaster walls?

Yes. We use a deep-scan finder and probe before drilling, and we carry anchors for plaster, lath and metal studs. If a wall can't safely hold the TV, we tell you.

Will you hang the soundbar, shelves or pictures in the same visit?

Yes, and if the TV takes an hour, that work usually fits inside the 2-hour minimum at no extra charge.

What size TVs can you mount?

Up to 85 inches as standard. Very large or very heavy TVs may need a second set of hands; tell us the size when you book.

Do you offer same-day or weekend TV mounting?

Often. We work Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm, and answer within 2 business hours. Same-day depends on the schedule, so call or text.

Who do I call to mount a TV, a handyman or an electrician?

A handyman, unless you need a new outlet behind the TV. Mounting, leveling and hiding cords is handyman work. We bring in an electrician only when power has to move.
