Drywall repair in Louisville, KY
Holes, cracks, nail pops and water stains, patched, sanded and painted so you can't find the spot. Most jobs are done in one visit.

Drywall repair in Louisville costs $75 an hour with The Tenant Turn, with a 2-hour minimum. A doorknob hole or a few nail pops is usually finished inside that minimum, about $150. Patching and repainting a wall in one room typically lands between $150 and $300 plus paint. Ceiling and water-damage repairs are quoted after you send a photo. We patch, sand, prime and paint in the same visit whenever the mud can dry in time.

What drywall repair costs in Louisville
We charge by the hour, $75, with a 2-hour minimum. That minimum covers most small repairs: a hole behind a door, a few nail pops, a crack over a window. You pay $150 and the wall is done.
Bigger repairs take longer because drywall mud has to dry between coats. A wall with several holes, or a patch that needs two or three coats and a full repaint, usually runs $150 to $300 in labor plus paint and materials at cost plus 10%. We bring the receipts.
Ceiling repairs, popcorn texture and water damage vary too much to price blind. Text us a photo and we will send a flat quote, usually the same day.
| Repair | Typical labor | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Small hole or a few nail pops | $150 (the 2-hour minimum) | About 2 hours |
| Several holes in one room, patched and painted | $150 to $300 | Half a day, sometimes two short visits for drying |
| Crack along a seam or over a door | $150 to $225 | 2 to 3 hours |
| Ceiling stain or sag, popcorn texture | Flat quote from a photo | Depends on the damage |
How we make the patch disappear
A patch you can see is a patch done fast. We cut the damage back to clean drywall, set a backer or a new piece, tape it, and float the mud wide so there is no bump at the edge. Then we sand, prime and paint.
Paint is the part most people skip, and it is why patches show. We feather the new paint into the old so there is no square of fresh color. If you have the original can, we use it. If not, we match it.
- Cut back to solid drywall and add a backer
- Tape and two or three coats of mud, floated wide
- Sand smooth, then prime the bare mud
- Match the texture: smooth, orange peel, knockdown or popcorn
- Paint and feather into the existing wall
Why cracks and nail pops come back
Louisville houses move with the seasons. Humid summers and dry, heated winters swell and shrink the framing, and the drywall screws and seams move with it. A crack filled with plain spackle opens again by spring.
We fix the cause, not just the line: reset the popped screws, add new ones beside them, and use mesh tape and setting compound on seams instead of filler. That is what keeps the repair closed.
Water stains and damaged ceilings
A brown ring on the ceiling means water got in at some point. Before we patch it we check that the leak is fixed, because painting over a live leak just stains again. Once it is dry, small stains get a stain-blocking primer and paint. Soft or sagging drywall gets cut out and replaced.
If the leak is still active, we tell you and point you to a plumber or roofer first. We are not licensed for plumbing or roof work, and we don't pretend to be.
For landlords between tenants
Drywall is the most common repair on a turnover. We photograph every hole before and after so you have a clean record for the deposit, and we can fold the patching into an Express, Standard or Heavy Duty turnover so it is one visit and one invoice.
Before and after

What this doesn't cover
- Finding and fixing the leak that caused the damage (plumber or roofer)
- Moving electrical boxes or wiring behind the wall (licensed electrician)
- Full-room drywall hanging in new construction
Those need a licensed trade. We will tell you when a job is one of them and point you to someone good.
Questions
How much does drywall repair cost in Louisville?
With The Tenant Turn it is $75 an hour with a 2-hour minimum, so a small hole or a few nail pops is about $150. Patching and repainting a wall usually lands between $150 and $300 plus paint. Ceiling and water-damage repairs are quoted from a photo.
How much does it cost to fix a hole in the wall?
A doorknob-sized hole is almost always done inside our 2-hour minimum, $150 including the patch, sanding and paint. Larger holes, or several in one room, run $150 to $300 depending on how many coats and how much repainting they need.
Can a handyman repair drywall, or do I need a drywall contractor?
A handyman is the right call for holes, cracks, nail pops, stains and small ceiling repairs. A drywall contractor makes sense when you are hanging whole rooms of new board. Everything on this page is handyman work we do every week.
How long does drywall repair take? Can it be done in one visit?
Small repairs take about two hours. Mud needs to dry between coats, so a larger patch with paint may be a long single visit or two short ones a day apart. We tell you which before we start.
Will I be able to see the patch?
Not if it is done right. We float the mud wide, match the texture, prime and then paint the repair into the surrounding wall so there is no fresh square of color.
Can you match textured or popcorn ceilings?
Yes. We match smooth, orange peel and knockdown textures, and we can patch popcorn ceilings. Large popcorn areas are quoted from a photo because the blend takes longer.
Why do nail pops and cracks keep coming back?
The house moves with humidity and heat, and plain spackle cannot move with it. We reset the screws, add new ones, and use mesh tape with setting compound on seams so the repair stays closed.
Can you repair water-damaged drywall or a sagging ceiling?
Yes, once the leak is fixed. We check it is dry, cut out any soft board, patch, use a stain-blocking primer and repaint. If the leak is still active we send you to a plumber or roofer first.
Do you fix the wall after a plumber or electrician cut it open?
Yes. Access holes from plumbing or electrical work are one of our most common calls. We close them up, texture and paint so you would never know.
Do I need to move furniture or prep the room?
Just clear a few feet in front of the wall if you can. We bring drop cloths, cover what is nearby and clean up the dust before we leave.
Can landlords get before and after photos for the deposit?
Yes. We photograph every repair before and after and send the photos the same day. Drywall can also be bundled into our turnover packages.
Do you offer same-week drywall repair in Louisville and Southern Indiana?
Usually. We answer within 2 business hours and most small repairs are scheduled within a few days across Louisville, New Albany, Jeffersonville and Central Kentucky.
